Welcome to Our School - chalkboard

We welcome you to Gorrell School!

Gorrell is located on Massillon's northwest side. We have a population of 360 wonderful students. The school is made up of 17 classrooms ranging from kindergarten through fourth grade, with 13 regular education classrooms, two self-contained gifted classrooms,  and two learning disabled resource classrooms. We have a small group instructor who provides daily tutoring to students with learning disablities and two Title 1 teachers that service all grade levels.

All of the students receive art, music, computer and physical education (including swimming) throughout the school year.

Gorrell prides itself with our Peacemaker climate. Students are encouraged to practice being a Peacemaker by committing to
the following:

"Peacemaker Rights and Responsibilities"

Being Kind

Being Safe

Being Cooperative

Being Respectful

Being Responsible

The following is our school mission and is how we put children first daily:

We, Gorrell School, will provide a quality education for all students through school, home and community partnerships creatively using available resources.

Our children accomplish wonderful things and are recognized throughout the school year in the following ways: Peacemaker of the Month, Student of the Month, attendance awards, spelling bee and birthday recognition.

Gorrell School has a very supportive PTO that is extremely active in school functions. The PTO sponsors family movie night, holiday parties, science and math nights, staff Web site memberships, fundraising activities, book  fairs, Secret Santa Shop, and Family Fun Nights. In addition to PTO functions, Gorrell provides the following for students and their families:

                             *  Breakthrough to Literacy

                             *  Everyday Math

                             *  Grandparents Day

                             *  Right to Read Week

                             *  Project MORE

Gorrell School is a spectacular place where children are exposed to rigorous academic instruction, treated fairly and are put first. We encourage you to visit us to see the extraordinary achievements of our students.

Sincerely,

The Gorrell Staff
